Celebrating 86 Day with the 86-BRZ Club of the Philippines

Every car enthusiast knows the importance of the 1980s Toyota Corolla AE86. Whether it was winning in touring car, rallying, or drift competitions, starring in popular anime shows, or even just being a wonderful daily driver, the hachi-roku is a motoring icon. So when Toyota revived the 86 nameplate with the GT86 alongside the Subaru BRZ as a fun-loving, tail-happy, (somewhat) affordable 2+2 sports coupe in 2012, it was huge news. Its successor (which Toyota renamed the GR86, while Subaru kept the BRZ moniker) continued this success with slightly more grown-up styling and a little extra power. With pedigree like this, it's no wonder that there is a huge community of 86 lovers in the Philippines, and all over the world. And this love is celebrated every year on August 6, also known as 86 Day.
