ERacing GP Endurance Edition Round 1 Race Report:
It was an eventful 12-hour endurance race for AutoPerformance Ph - Sim Racing Pilipinas as the team was plagued by lot of incidents and glitches. Qualifying saw first stint driver Alexis Clapano land 9th place on the starting grid after struggling with track temps.
As the race started, he slowly climbed up places and within the first hour the team was already as high as 5th and chasing the frontrunners on the first stint. Then after, the car was hit from behind and was dropped down back to 9th place. during the 2nd hour stint, a blue-flagged GT4-class car collided with Alexis and race control handed us a drive-thru penalty to be served in three laps. But a technical glitch happened where in as the car came into the pit to serve the penalty, the game gave us a DSQ for a late penalty serve. The team disputed with the race stewards the decision and we were able to continue the race but was already 25 laps down when the decision was reveresed.
Sensing that it was still on the second hour, the team decided to continue to push the race until the end as anything can happen. from 31st after the pit glitch, the team finished 19th place, 369 laps after 12 hours of non-stop racing from all four drivers, delivering the same pace as the frontrunning GT3 cars althroughout.
Alexis Clapano (1st stint) A race weekend to forget. Quali did not go as planned and landed only 9th on the grid. Started the race decently and gained a few places. I had minor collision with a gt4 car, received a drive through and the rest is history. Still proud of my team mates for their perseverance to finish the race despite the mishaps.
Daryl Brady (2nd stint) First time to do a 12h endurance. Great achievement so far on sim racing. Drove for 3hours for my stint after Alexis Clapano. Tried to recover the aberya that has happened. We went up 2 places before handing down our 488 Evo to Zuriel. Fantaatic racing with the other regional drivers on my stint and no aberya as well.
Last stint luckily Voltaire gave me the perfect tyre pressure kaya naging confident pra mag push at na unlap ko lahat ng GT4 class cars.
Voltaire Sayco (Final Stint) My 1st stint on the 9th hour of the race was full of events. Specifically when I got a drive-through penalty which is not my fault (based when we review the replays). Also the struggles in getting thru the traffic with the GT4s. But on my last stint, which is the final hour of the race, the car and tires suddenly responds so well that I'm matching the race pace of the leaders. Overall, it's a good fun and full of learning experiences that I can use to bounce back for the next round of the series.
We head on to the second round of the 6-round championship with valuable experience from this opening round. Next stop: 4 Hours of Monza this March 2021
